Though majoring for eight years in college in oil painting and printmaking, the loss of supplies and a space to paint in a studio fire in 1993 brought about a change to watercolor that lasted much longer than I intended. Though I had always envisioned returning to oils, it was not until this year, twentythree years later, that I fully and joyfully embraced oil painting again. Watercolor was extremely difficult to master and such a beautiful, spontaneous medium but, ultimately, the creamy nature of oils feels good to move around and they provide the vivid color I see in the world. ~Marsha Donahue |
