Introducing "Follow the Dots"!
When the pandemic lockdown was lifted, I wanted to experiment and express feelings of happiness and joy. We had been under such a dark cloud; it was time to play!
The process involved melting encaustic paints on my heated palette and transferring them to paper. To do the transfer, paper is placed on the palette. I wanted to combine colors in unexpected ways - to explore the interaction of colors and create a sense of space and movement. It was a very intuitive way of working. I played a lot with what if I tried this or that. I then responded to the colors with hand-drawn black marks. It was such a pleasure and freeing to make these, I hope it shows. Sandra~

The studio is my playground. Leaving the chatter of the outside world behind, I am free to express myself visually and truthfully. My work involves using a wide range of materials – encaustic paint*, ink, graphite, oil paint, collage, watercolor, gouache, and whatever else suits my needs. My goal is to express the feeling of being fully engaged and present with the work. Daily thoughts, feelings, and experiences take a visual form.
