Reception Saturday, July 25, 4-6
Trained originally as an abstract painter in the tradition of Hans Hoffman, Mary Prince explores the dynamics of light, color, and texture of her surrounding world. Her paintings and prints vigorously capture the atmospheric changes that animate nature, whether the rugged coastline and pristine islands of the Northeastern coast of Maine or the exuberant fabrics and glassy objects of the still life. The artist often pursues and elaborates upon her motifs in a variety of media: oil paint, watercolor, ink wash, collage and prints.

Biography
Collage
This collage features the boats of Isaac Beal. Isaac lived and worked on Beals Island as a boat builder, lobsterman, herring fisherman, and lobster boat racer among many other activities in and around the sea. A pillar of the seafaring community, he was Harbor Master at the Beals Public Landing as well as a devoted family man who often took the time to stop and encourage me as I was painting at the landing.
